Two-time World Championship 100 metres bronze medallist and former world record holder Asafa Powell, has officially been recognized by the Guinness Book as a world record holder.
The Guiness Book of World Records has named Powell as the current record holder for most competitive 100m sprint races completed in sub-10 seconds.
The 34 year-old Powell, who broke into the sub-10 club in June 2004, posted his 97th sub-10 run at the Zurich Diamond League on September 1 last year.
The fourth fastest man in history with 9.72 seconds is heading to the IAAF Diamond League opener in Doha, Qatar on May 5, alongside 16 reigning Olympic and world champions plus 44 global medallists.
