History beckons for teenaged Jamaican bobsleigh competitor

Immaculate Conception High student Adanna Johnson finished eighth in the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation Women's Youth Monobob in Pyeongchang, China on Thursday.

Johnson took 59.12 seconds to complete her first run but in her second attempt it took a minute and 75 seconds to complete the challenge on the day.

The 16 year old finished with an overall time of 2 minutes and 32 seconds. This time is 3.62 seconds worse off the leader Maja Voigt who after took runs finished in a minute 56.70 seconds.

Johnson just needs to finish her race on Friday and she will qualify for next year's Winter Youth Olympics in Gangwon, South Korea. Based on the requirements, Friday’s run means Johnson would compete in six meets on three different tracks.
