Hummingbirds stage dramatic fightback to fly away with Elite Netball title

Kingston Hummingbirds are celebrating their second hold on the Berger Elite Netball League title following their 64-59 victory over Manchester Spurs in game 2 of the best-of-three finals to win the series 2-0.

Manchester Spurs who led by as many as 10 goals at one stage, held quarterly leads of 18-11, 32-26 and 50-44 before the Hummingbirds staged a tremendous final quarter fightback to outscore the Spurs 20-9 to seal victory and add to the title they won during the inaugural staging of the competition in 2014.

Goal-shooter Sabrina Spence scored 48 goals from 54 attempts for the Hummingbirds while goal-attack Shanice Beckford weighed in with 16 from 18.

For the Spurs, goal-attack Anna-Kay Griffiths shot 42 goals from 48 attempts while goal-shooter Nicole Dixon had 17 from 20. The Hummingbirds had won the opening game 61-52.
