Jamaica is among the 10 teams which will be placed in the May 5 draw for the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Americas Basketball Championship for women set for Neiva, Colombia from September 24 to October 1.
Jamaica and Puerto Rico, which both qualified from last year’s Centro Championships, will join Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, México, Paraguay and Colombia in the draw.
This will see the teams being divided into two groups of 5.
The winning team will secure a spot in the 2012 Olympic Games in London
Teams finishing between second and fourth will have the chance to play in the 2012 FIBA World Olympic qualifying championship to earn a spot in London 2012.
