Jamaica crushed by Barbados in CWI U17 tournament

Jamaica were crushed by an innings and 48 runs in their opening 2-day Cricket West Indies regional Under-17 cricket competition in Trinidad & Tobago.

Barbados resumed from their overnight 189-4 to declare at 236-7 in their first innings response to 103 all out.

Joshua Branch moved on from his 59 not out to top score with 84. Vitel Lawes claimed 2-53 to join captain Tyriek Bryan who took 2-34 on the opening day.

Faced with a deficit of 133 runs, the young Jamaicans were blown away for a mere 85 in 32.4 overs. Pajay Nelson offered the most resistance with 15 against Jakeem Pollard 3-6.

Three other Bajan bowlers picked up two wickets apiece to condemn the Robert Turner coached team to the heavy defeat.

Jamaica will take on the Windward Islands in their second round encounter at Gilbert Park starting on Saturday.
