National High Jump champion Kimberly Williamson and Saniel Atkinson-Grier failed to add to the nation's medal tally at the 17th Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada Wednesday morning.
Williamson cleared 1.88 metres for 6th place while Atkinson-Grier cleared 1.80 metres to finish 9th. The Gold went to Lavern Spencer of St. Lucia with 1.94 meters.
In the meantime, Ricardo Cunningham and Jowayne Hibbert both qualified for the final of the men's 800m. Cunningham placed third in his semi-final and Hibbert was second in another as both clocked 1:49.22.
Leford Green who won his semi-final in 50.53 and roxroy cato who placed second in his with 49.85 both made the 400 metre hurdles final.
Former high school standout Chris-Ann Gordon qualified for the women's 400 meters final. She finished third in her heat with 52.47 seconds. Anastacia Leroy also qualified as a fastest non automatic qualifier after ending 4th in her semi-final with 53.13.
And Jamaicans will be involved in at least three finals later Wednesday. Damar Forbes will contest the men's long jump starting at 5.05 pm, Daniel Thomas, in the women's shot put at 5.25 pm, and Kimara McDonald in the women's 800 metres at 6.30 this evening.
Sherone Simpson and Schillonie Calvert along with Jason Livermore and Sheldon Mitchell will contest the semi-finals of the women's and men's 100 metres at 5.25pm and 5.50pm respectively, with the finals set for 7.30pm and 7.50pm this evening.
Jamaica has already secured two medals, gold from shot putter O'Dayne Richards and silver from swimmer Alia Atkinson in the 100m breast-stroke.
