For the first time since the tournament's inception, there will be no Jamaican franchise in the 2024 edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
The owners have resold the rights of the three time winners, the Tallawahs back to the CPL owners and are now responsible for the new Antiguan franchise which was announced by that government on Tuesday.
Former owner of the Tallawahs, Kris Persaud says he is not to be blamed for moving on, given that the government has been unwilling to give support in recent years.
Persaud has been the owner of the franchise since 2017 and was not amused when asked about the government's role in the seven years, especially after winning in 2022.
Sports Minister Olivia Grange could not be reached for a comment up to sports time. The Tallawahs won the first edition in 2013, as well as 2016 and 2022.
Next season's tournament will have teams based in St Kitts, Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, St Lucia and Guyana.
