World Youth 400 metres champion Christopher Taylor has been named junior Male Athlete of the Year for the North America, Central America and Caribbean, NACAC region.
The 16 year old Calabar High student who also received the national junior award, had a strong year where he won the Carifta Under 18 title and broke Usain Bolt's national youth 400 metres record on his way to World Youth gold in Cali, Colombia.
Cuba's Yulenmis Aguilar, who set a javelin world junior record of 63.86m at the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada, got the female junior award.
Another Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva beat back Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the senior women's award while world decathlon record holder and IAAF Athlete of the Year Ashton Eaton received NACAC's top award on the men's side.
