Contingents from St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and the Bahamas arrived in Jamaica on Wednesday for the three day 2011 Carifta Track and Field Championships starting on Saturday at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex in Montego Bay, St. James.
Members of the St. Kitts and Nevis, as well the Saint Lucian team arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, while the Bahamian team arrived at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
Osdel Hanley, the team leader for the Kittitian delegation, said they have the team to surpass their medal count of one gold and one silver for eighth place last year.
Saint Lucia ended one place below St. Kitts and Nevis last year, after copping four medals including one gold and 3 bronze for ninth place.
Teams to compete at the championships will continue arriving on Thursday.
The 2011 Carifta championships will be aired live and exclusive on Television Jamaica starting at 9:00 a.m. daily.
The competition will run from April 23 to 25.
