A better performance did not result in a higher placing.
Jamaican diver Yona Knight-Wisdom finished 37th in the three-metre springboard competition at the FINA World Aquatics Championship in Kazan, Russia.
The 19 year old scored 365.3 points in the preliminaries which had 61 divers competing. It was an improvement on his score of 339 from his debut championship two years ago in Barcelona, Spain.
Knight-Wisdom was looking to give the country another best finish, after finishing 19th, four places higher than 2013 in the preliminaries of the one metre springboard dive.
Jamaican attention now turns to swimming which starts on Tuesday August 2.
Alia Atkinson, the RJR Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year 2014, Sidrell Williams and Timothy Wynter carry the nation's hopes.
