Legends/Knights & Wizards/Pythons NBL semis

The National Basketball League (NBL)/Flow All-Island championships best of three national semi-finals tip off at the National Stadium Courts on Thursday.

The Majesty Legends will be facing Urban Knights while the Tivoli Wizards will oppose the Manchester Pythons

The Wizards, the Southern Conference champions, outplayed the Jamaica Defence Force 66-56 to take a 2-0 lead in their best of three quarterfinals.

The West Kingston based team dominated three out of the four quarters before the soldiers took the final quarter 28-14.

Omar Barnes with 14 points was the main scorer for the Wizards while Raymond Anderson had a game high 21 points.

Anderson received support from Denroy Barnaby who contributed 18 points.

The Wizards will now turn their attention to the Pythons in the second game of the semifinal double header on Thursday.

Meanwhile, it took overtime for Southern Conference runners-up, the Majesty Legends, to clinch their best of three series 2-0 against the St. George's Slayers with a 73-72 victory.

Howard Daley with 17 points and Dusahne White with 15, were the main scorers for the Slayers who led 36-24 at half time.

The Slayers looked as if they were going to force a game three after dominating the first half however; the Legends swept the third quarter 20-7 for a one point lead.

The Slayers outscored the Wizards in the fourth to force overtime.

But the Wizards took the section 14-13 to march into the semifinal where they will oppose defending champions Urban Knights.
