The 4-5 favourite Mamma Mia went from gate to wire in landing the 21st running of the Arthur Jones Memorial Cup, the feature event for overnight allowance runners over 6 furlongs at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
The 5 year old chestnut mare was ridden to victory by Robert "Hard Ball" Halledeen for champion trainer Jason DaCosta.
Mamma Mia who closed out a double for Halledeen and DaCosta on the 9-race card, covered the distance in a minute, thirteen-and-one-fifth of a second, winning by three quarters of a length.
Champion jockey Raddesh Roman and veteran rider Phillip Parchment also had a double on the programme. Racing continues next Saturday.
