For the first time since 2019, a Jamaican will not be part of a West Indies test squad, following the announcement of the 14-member squad to take on South Africa in two test matches.
Kirk McKenzie who had meagre returns of 33 runs in six innings, has been left out of the squad that sees a first time selection for Keacy Carty.
Off-spinner Bryan Charles from Trinidad & Tobago is also a first time inclusion that sees a recall for Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican. Kemar Roach who missed the English tour due to a knee injury is in the 14 man squad.
Vice-captain Alzarri Joseph has been rested, while Zachary McCaskie and Kevin Sinclair who suffered a fractured forearm, are the other exclusions from the English tour. Joshua da Silva is vice-captain for the two test series that will see Kraigg Brathwaite leading the regional team.
Alick Athanaze, Jason Holder, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Shamar Joseph, Mikyle Louis, Gudakesh Motie and Jayden Seales are the other players in the squad that was selected by head coach Andre Coley. The first test against South Africa bowls off on August 7 in Trinidad.
