Mumbai Indians win T20 Champions League

Mumbai Indians put in a command performance on Sunday to win the annual Champions League 20/Twenty finals by 33 runs over fellow IPL team, Rajastan Royals.

Mumbai, batting first, made 202, with strong performances from their middle order batsmen, particularly West Indian, Dwayne Smith - 44 and Glen Maxwell - 37, before Harbhjan Singh, 4-32 and Kieron Pollard, another West Indian, 3-31, undermined their opponents' reply, restricting them to 169.

Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane, 65 and Sanju Viswanath Samson, 60, batted well for Rajasthan, but only one other batsman, with 10 runs, got into double figures, rendering their response ineffective.

Trinidad & Tobago had lost Mumbai Indians in the semi-finals of the competition, making the regional representative the only non-Indian Premier League team to advance that far into the Champions League, which pits the best teams from the major T20 leagues across the world against each other to determine global supremacy.
