The Anthony "Baba" Nunes-trained Nautical Star went from gate to wire in winning Saturday's feature event, the St Catherine Cup for Overnight Allowance runners over 6 furlongs at Caymanas Park.
The highly-rated American-bred 6 year old dark bay horse who went off as the 3-5 favourite in the field of 13, closed out a double for champion jockey Raddesh Roman on the 8 race card.
Nautical Star covered the distance in 1.11.2 minutes after splits of 23.4 and 47.1 to win by 10-and-three-quarter lengths and record his first victory from two career starts on local soil, following his underwhelming performance in last month's Mouttet Mile.
Roman had earlier ridden the 1-2 favourite Last Possession to victory in the 5th event over 5 and a half furlongs for trainer Anthony Dixon. Racing continues next Saturday.
