Pollard recuperating

West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard is back home in Trinidad recuperating from his facial injury suffered while playing for Somerset in the Friends Provident Twenty20 finals against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl in England on Saturday.

The right-hander had smashed one four and two sixes in a swashbuckling 22 from seven balls before he was hit in the face by a bouncer from fast bowler Dominic Cork.

Pollard immediately fell to the ground but was able to walk from the field and carried to the hospital.

The results of the tests showed that Pollard suffered no fractures to the eye socket or damage to the retina.

The swelling has subsided and Pollard is home recuperating.
