Radical warms up for Lotto Classic with fighting victory

2000 Guineas fourth place finisher Radical warmed up for the Lotto Classic for the Governor's Cup later this month by landing the feature event on the midweek programme at Caymanas Park.

The 3 year old roan gelding with champion jockey Omar Walker riding for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, prevailed as the 1-2 favourite in the I’m Satisfied Trophy" for native bred and imported 3 year olds over 10 furlongs.

The two-turn event which provided another warm-up for some of the classic campaigners, saw Radical being engaged in a prolonged stretch duel with the 7-1 chance Western Warrior under Robert Halledeen before taking command close home.

Meanwhile, 2015 champion sprinter Poker Star made a winning return after an 8 month absence to recover from injury.

Former champion jockey Shane Ellis and apprentice Javaniel Patterson each had a double on the programme while Anthony Smith had two wins among the trainers. Racing continues on Saturday.
