Reggae Boy O’Neil Thompson, has had his contracts with Barnsley and Hereford terminated by mutual consent.
The Jamaican defender was on a season long loan at Hereford but has found first team opportunities hard to come by, making six starts and one substitute appearance in the opening 16 games of this season.
According to club reports Thompson,27, stressed his desire to return to Jamaica and as a result both Barnsley and Hereford opted to cancel their existing deals.
Thompson moved to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee from Norewegian side Nottoden FK in August 2009 but only made two appearances for the club.
