Reggae Boyz have more challenges ahead of match versus Serbia Monday

The Reggae Boyz continue to face challenges ahead of their series of international friendlies, which starts against Serbia Monday afternoon in New Jersey.

Deshorn Brown, the 23-year old Colorado Rapids striker was among the players to join the squad in training on Sunday.

But as team manager Roy Simpson explains, Brown is doubtful for Monday's game.

“He is injured, a slight injury to his right knee. We will monitor him, assess him and make a decision at the game on Monday. But he should be ready for the game in Switzerland on (May 30),” Simpson said.

Brown, formerly of St. Elizabeth Technical,  is the 2013 Golden Boot winner for the Colorado Rapids and their second highest scorer so far this season.

Alvas Powell is the only player yet to join the squad, but he should arrive in New Jersey Sunday night.

Simpson says despite the challenges players are upbeat ahead of the series.

“Everything went well, the players are in high spirits," Simpson said. "As a matter of fact, we did some light jogging and stretching, but after that we just decided to cool down and get ready for Monday,” Simpson said.

Following Monday's game against Serbia, the Reggae Boyz will journey to Switzerland for a match on Friday.

They will play Egypt in London on June 4 and France in Lille on June 8.

The Jamaica versus Serbia match can be seen LIVE on Television Jamaica, TVJ, at 3p.m. on Monday.
