Despite beating the United States 1-0 in a friendly international last week, the Reggae Boyz only moved up two places in the June edition of the FIFA world rankings. Jamaica moved from 56th to 54th but they still remain at number four in the CONCACAF region. Mexico is the leader in CONCACAF as they are 18th in the world. The United States fell six places to number 30 while Costa Rica are 39th in the world.
Jamaica is however number one in the Caribbean as the next closest CFU team to them is Curacao who are 79th in the world. Jamaica's highest FIFA ranking is 27th and that was achieved in August of 1998. The Reggae Boyz will be looking to move into the top 50 as they get set to play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Their first game against Honduras is on Monday at 8:00 pm at the National Stadium.
Meanwhile, the top ten ranked teams in the world reads: Belgium, France, Brazil, England, Portugal, Croatia, Spain, Uruguay, Switzerland and Denmark.
