San Antonio Spurs awesome in winning 5th NBA Championship

The San Antonio Spurs exacted revenge over Miami Heat on Sunday, dominating the outgoing champions in the way they dominated the series, wrapping up their 5th NBA title with a professional 104-87 victory in game-5 of the finals, winning the series and the title 4-1.

The Spurs remembered their tough 4-3 NBA finals loss to the Heat last year, with Ray Allen's 3-pointer which tied and turned the match in game-6 going down in folklore. The Spurs were ticks away from the title, when the Heat's Ray Allen tied the match with a 3-pointer from the right corner, and went on to win game-6 in over-time and then wrap up the series in game-7.

After the Spurs won the Western Conference Championships, their all-star power forward, Tim Duncan, who doubles as a centre, said "we remember what happened last year (2013) and we will take care of business this time."

Duncan proved prophetic.

Save for the lone victory by the Heat, The Spurs dominated the series from start to finish, winning in 5-games with 22-year-old Kawhi Leonard named the Finals' MVP, the 4th youngest player to achieve the award. Tim Duncan was younger when he won his first title in 1999 with the Spurs, while Earvin "Magic" Johnson was younger when he won two MVP awards for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Tim Duncan looked fresh in completing his 5th NBA title, all with the Spurs which won its last title in 2007. The Miami Heat failed to three-peat as they ran into Kawhi Leonard who produced three straight all star performances to upend the former champions. Leonard ended Sunday night's game-5 with 22 points 10 rebounds, 7-10 shooting from the floor and 3-4 from 3-point land.

A disappointed Lebron James ended with 31 points and 10 rebounds as the Heat competed in their 4th straight NBA finals with two championships.
