Scorpions beat Pride to keep Super50 semi-final hopes alive

The Jamaica Scorpions kept their hopes of qualifying for the semi-final of the CWI regional Super50 Cup after beating the Barbados Pride by 5 wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday evening.

Chasing 177 runs to win, the Scorpions got to victory for the loss of 5 wickets with 29 balls to spare.

Brandon King 41 and Chadwick Walton 37, were the top scorers as Camarie Boyce had 2 for 27. 
The two shared in a 91 run opening stand before the team lost three wickets for 23 runs.

Andre McCarthy contributed 31, while Rovman Powell and Peat Salmon made 17 each with the latter unbeaten.

Earlier after electing to bat, Barbados Pride were bowled out for 176 in 45.5 overs.

Captain Shai Hope was the top scorer with 49, while Akeem Jordan and Shemar Springer made 21 and 20 respectively.

Dennis Bulli bagged 3-31 for the Jamaican franchise, while Jeavor Royal claimed 3-33.

The Scorpions were recording their second win of the season, having defeated the Pride by 68 runs in their first meeting.

The Rovman Powell-captained team have lost to the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and the West Indies Academy in their other two games.

The top two teams from the group will advance to the semi-finals.
