The Jamaica Scorpions went down by 9 wickets to the Barbados Pride in Round 3 of the regional 4-day championship at the Kensington Oval on Friday. The crushing defeat came on day three, as the scorpions were suffering their second loss of the season.
Resuming on 26-1 in their second innings and still trailing the Pride by 36 runs, the scorpions were dismissed for a below par 180. Javelle Glenn top scored with a fighting 66 from 109 balls. Jeavor Royal was next best with 29, while captain John Campbell chipped in with 25.
West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican ended with 3-42 for the Pride. Set 118 for victory, the Pride made easy work of the chase, as they strolled to 121-1 in 33.5 overs.
Jonathan Drakes 52 and captain Kraigg Braithwaite 47, shared an unbroken second wicket partnership of 106.
After winning their opening fixture against the Windward Islands Volcanoes, the Scorpions went down to the Leeward Islands Hurricanes before Friday's defeat against the Pride.
The Scorpions will next be in action on March 5 at Sabina Park, against the defending champions, the Guyana Harpy Eagles.
