The Jamaica Scorpions have suffered their third consecutive loss in the CWI regional 4-day championship after going down to defending champions the Guyana Harpy Eagles by 214 runs on Saturday's final day of their 4th round contest at Sabina Park.
Resuming the day on 179-3, chasing an improbable 488 for victory, the scorpions were dismissed for 274, giving the Harpy Eagles a convincing victory.
Kirk McKenzie who was 104 overnight, went on to score 147, his highest score for Jamaica. Javelle Glenn who started the day on 5 with McKenzie, added only 9 more runs to his tally.
Brad Barnes delayed the inevitable, with a fighting 25 from 75 balls, while sharing a 66 run fifth wicket partnership with McKenzie.
At 264-6 at lunch, the Jamaicans harboured hopes of saving the match. However, those hopes were quickly dashed when play resumed after the break.
The last four wickets fell for just 10 runs, as Gudakesh Motie with 4-69, mopped up the tail. Ronaldo Alimohamed, who picked up 6 wickets in the first innings, grabbed three more to end with a match haul of 9-59, while Versammy Permaul supported with 3-50.
