Small and Granville named MVP for Manning and DaCosta Cup competitions

Tyrese Small of Jamaica College and Rodderick Granville from  Clarendon College took home the major individual accolades at Wednesday's presentation of awards for last season's Manning and DaCosta Cup schoolboy football competitions. Jamaica College's captain and attacking midfielder Small who scored 10 goals during the competition, landed the Manning Cup MVP award.

The equivalent for the DaCosta Cup went to  forward Roderick Granville who netted 14 goals in helping Clarendon College to retain the symbol of rural area schoolboy football supremacy. The Golden Boot award for the most goals scored from the start of the second round of both competitions went to Dwayne Atkinson of Kingston College who netted 11 goals and Sheldon Smart of Clarendon College who scored 15 times.

Ronaldo Webster of Wolmer's Boys was the overall leading goal scorer in the Manning Cup, having netted 22 goals, while national Under-17 representative Giovanni Mitoo of Frome Technical was the DaCosta Cup's leading scorer with 18 goals.

Wolmer's and Manchester high were voted the most attacking teams for the Manning and DaCosta Cup respectively while the best defensive team awards went to Kingston College for the Manning Cup and Clarendon College for the DaCosta Cup. Clarendon Copllege was also adjudged the most disciplined team in the DaCosta Cup, while the Manning Cup equivalent went to St Andrew Technical.

Meanwhile, ISSA president Keith Wellington revealed to Radio Jamaica Sports that the All Manning/All DaCosta Cup game will return to the local schoolboy football calendar next season. The awards function was held at the Spanish Court Hotel.
