Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Garfield Jones

Leading sports scientist, Professor Rachael Irving has weighed in on the conversation relating to the workload of young athletes.

Irving, who is a Professor of Sport Science and Biochemistry at the University of the West Indies (UWI), says a more scientific approach needs to be taken towards the nation's young athletes.

She says the decision to race quarter miler Jabari Matheson in four 400m races over two days, should have included a number of factors and stakeholders.
