St. Lucia sends Aruba out of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying tournament

St. Lucia overcame a first-leg deficit to eliminate Aruba on penalties, to progress to the first group round of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIFAF World Cup in Brazil.

Jamil Joseph’s hat-trick inspired St. Lucia to a 4 – 2 win over Aruba, which had won the first leg by the same score.

This forced extra-time and then penalties, which St. Lucia won 5 – 4.

St. Lucia will join the Bahamas, Bermuda, the US Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic in the draw for the qualifiers which will take place on July 30.

Belize and Montserrat play their second leg on Sunday to decide the final spot.
