Sunshine Girl Sterling to play in Suncorp Super League

Sunshine Girls defender Shamera Sterling will turn out for the Adelaide Thunderbirds for the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season. Sterling, who lined-up for Loughborough Lightning in the 2018 Vitality Netball Super League, is the first pick for the thunderbirds for the new season.

The former Waulgrovian player was named MVP  of the league and her club in the Vitality Super League having led the intercept count with 101 intercepts from 18 games, almost doubling the player ranked second. She was also a member of the Jamaican team that claimed the bronze medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, where she topped the competition's intercept count.

As per Netball Australia's recruitment guidelines, the Adelaide Thunderbirds 2019 list will be finalised by late September, with recruitment announcements being made in due course.
