Sunshine Girls lost to England in World Netball Championship to secure 4th place

Jamaica's sunshine girls confirmed world number-4 ranking and a 4th place finish, this after losing 70-49 to England in the bronze medal match at the 13th World Netball Championship at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

 

England were solid throughout, leading after all quarters, 18-12, 34-26 at half time, and a huge 16-goal lead, 52-36, after three quarters. England ran out 21-goal winners as Romelda Aiken 23 goals, Jhaniele Fowler 16 and Anna Kay Griffiths 10 had no answers for England's goal shooter Jo Harten 51 goals and goal attack Pamela Cookey 19.

 

It was England's 1st bronze medal since 1999.

Their co-captain Karen Aikinson retired after the game with 116 caps.

 

Meanwhile, South Africa narrowly beat Malawi 52-50 to capture 5th place while Trinidad & Tobago secured the world number-7 ranking by defeating

Northern Ireland 56-38.
