The Sunshine Girls' wait for a spot in the final of the Netball World Cup has been extended as world number 1 Australia showed their superiority when it mattered most in a 57-54 win over the Jamaicans in their semi-final in Cape Town, South Africa on Saturday.
The first quarter ended at 14-14, while it was 29-29 at half time. The two teams traded goals in the second quarter and could not be separated at half time 29-29.
The Aussies went on an early run to start the third quarter and led by as many as 6 goals but the Jamaicans fought back to trail 40-43 at the end.
It was in the last 7 minutes of the game that the Jamaicans allowed their opponents to capitalize on their errors to win the quarter 15-14 for the 3 goal margin of victory.
Australia will meet England's Roses in Sunday's championship game after they defeated title holders New Zealand 46-40 in semi-final number 1.
Jamaica will meet New Zealand in the third place playoff at 9:00 am Jamaica time on Sunday.
