Two Jamaican boxers, super heavyweight Ricardo Brown and lightweight Shiloh Defreitas, have qualified for the Pan American Games to be held in Peru from July 2 to August 11. Brown received a bye to the quarter-final where he lost by split decision to America's Richard Torrez. However, Torrez withdrew from the semi-finals due to a cut he received from the Jamaican.
Both boxers finished in the topped eight. English-based Defreitas won his first fight against Jonathan Contreras of Guatemala, before losing to Colombian professional boxer Jonathan Romero in the semi-final. Jamaica's other two boxers Ian Darby and Canadian-based Joshua Frazer failed to advance after losing in the first round.
