U-23 Reggae Boyz team for Olympic qualifiers named

Reno's midfielder Evan Taylor is a late inclusion to the national under-23 man squad named by Coach Alfredo Montesso to represent Jamaica in the first round of the 2012 Olympic qualifiers which starts on Wednesday, August 3 in Suriname.

Taylor represented the senior Reggae Boyz team under another Brazilian coach, Rene Simoes, as a teenager in the World Cup qualifiers in 2008.

In addition to Taylor, the rest of the squad includes goal keepers Andre Blake, Gariece McPherson, defenders Leaughn Williams, Theo Brown, Jason Watson, Andrae Campbell and Keithy Simpson.

The midfield duties will be handled by Nico Brett, Andre Vanzie, Ricardo Morris, Romeo Parkes, Davian Thorpe, and Taylor.

Andre Clennon, Kemal Malcolm, Andrae Bernal, Alonzo Adlam and Jason Johnson are the strikers chosen.

The team will play another practice game against the highgate Football Club, which beat them 1 – 0 on Tuesday, July 26.
