There is uncertainty as to whether or not embattled Trinidadian batsman Darren Bravo will play in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite being picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2017 auction on Monday.
Bravo who is suspended by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for his alleged offensive tweet against WICB president Dave Cameron will now have to get clearance from the regional board to play in India .
Bravo who was drafted for US $74,000 for the 2017 IPL, was sent home from the tour of Zimbabwe and since then has not been allowed to play for the Caribbean side or in regional cricket.
The 28 year old did not sign a retainer contract with the WICB but as an active player he still needs to apply to the WICB for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in order to play in the IPL.
Another T&T player who has been on suspension Nicolas Pooran was granted an NOC to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) despite being on suspension in November last year.
Bravo recently held discussions with the WICB but no resolution was reached and his current situation is one of stalemate.
