Unofficial contact made with Leeds United captain about Reggae Boyz representation

Reggae Boyz team manager Roy Simpson says there has been contact with Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips about representing Jamaica, but not in an official capacity.

The Leeds skipper qualifies for the Reggae Boyz through his father.

The Sun newspaper in the UK is reporting that Jamaica contacted Leeds, seeking permission to sit down with Phillips and try to convince him to play for the Reggae Boyz.

It’s believed that England's manager Gareth Southgate has been following the progress of Phillips who helped Leeds earn promotion to next season's English Premier League after a 16 year wait.

When Radio Jamaica Sports contacted JFF General Secretary Dalton Wint, he said he was in a meeting and could not comment on the matter.
