Despite four wickets from Jamaican Sheldon Cottrell, the West Indies 'A' went down by two wickets to Sri Lanka 'A' at Sabina Park on Wednesday night and face a must-win situation on Friday if they are to keep the three match series alive.
Batting first the Windies 'A' was dismissed for 176 in 48 overs with Moncin Hodge 54 and Rahkeem Cornwall 37, getting most runs. Chasing 177 to win, Sri Lanka 'A' replied with 181-8 off 48 overs having been at 61-4 at one stage.
However, Charith Asalanka 33 and Shehan Jayasuriya 31 not out, led the fight for the Sri Lankans as they took a 1-0 lead heading into Friday's second game. Cottrell ended the pick of the Windies bowlers with 4-44 while Cornwall returned to take 2-31.
