Velonique Bowen is Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2022

Velonique Bowen, who represented Kingston and St Andrew, was last night crowned Festival Queen 2022.

The journalism graduate walked away with the national title and a $600,000 cash prize.

Clarendon's Sheri-Gaye Johnson, who is a first-year student at the University of the West Indies, was awarded first runner-up, the best talent, and 350 thousand dollars.

Meanwhile, the second runner-up title and $200,000 went to Westmoreland's Le Chone Redwood, who is a medical student and anatomist.

She was also given the award for best evening gown.

The glittering, culture-filled affair was held at the National Indoor Sports Centre and was hosted by former festival queens Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small and Dahlia Harris.

The Independence celebration commemorating Jamaica's Diamond Jubilee will conclude on Saturday with the grand Gala at the National Stadium.
