AMG Packaging reports increased second quarter profit

AMG Packaging and Paper Company is reporting that it made more profit in its second quarter ended February.

Post-tax earnings amounted to $17.8 million versus $17.6 million in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue for the company was 13.7 per cent more than the similar period in 2022.

AMG Packaging and Paper's total earnings for the period was valued at $246.54 million, compared with $216.8 million for the similar period in 2022.

AMG Packaging reported an increase in performance due to an uptick in orders, along with a slight decline in the cost of its inventories attributed to a drop in shipping costs.

However, it says paper prices remain unstable due to a shortage on the world market.

The company says volatility in the foreign exchange rate resulted in some lower outturns than initially projected for the period.
