Trinidad-based financial group First Citizens is reportedly exploring investment opportunities in Jamaica.
According to Trinidad's Express newspaper, First Citizens chief executive Karen Darbasie met with Prime Minister Andrew Holness last Wednesday.
Ms Darbasie and deputy CEO of First Citizens, Jason Julien, also held talks with Minister of Finance, Nigel Clarke, on Thursday.
Sources in Jamaica did not say what was the nature of the exploratory talks.
Since September 2020, First Citizens subsidiary, First Citizens Investment Services (FCIS), has built up a 7.43 per cent stake in Barita Investments making it the company's second largest shareholder.
FCIS and Barita also collaborated to provide guidance and advice to Massy Holdings on its cross-listing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange last month.
