Walmart to cut hundreds of jobs at some e-commerce fulfillment facilities

US based retailer Walmart is reportedly asking hundreds of workers at five e-commerce fulfillment facilities to find jobs within 90 days at other locations in the company.

A source told Reuters, the company is set to cut more jobs as it looks to eliminate or reduce the number of evening and weekend shifts.

The retail sector has already seen more than 17,000 job cuts so far this year compared with 761 in the similar period last year.

The layoffs at Walmart could indicate that the US economy may face more problems in the future, and some economists believe there might be a recession this year.

The downsizing follows the trend of companies in the tech industry - including Facebook's parent company, Meta, and Amazon - which also cut their workforce.
