The latest provided by the Jamaica Constabulary Force reveal a 10.4 per cent year-to-date increase in murders.
There were 1,179 killings from January 1 to October 28, compared to 1,068 during the corresponding period in 2020.
The Kingston Central Police Division had the biggest increase in homicides, with killings in the division up 62 per cent.
Westmoreland had the second highest increase, up 60 per cent, followed by Portland 55 per cent, Hanover 42 per cent and St. James 33 per cent.
St. Andrew Central, St. Andrew North, St. Catherine North, Trelawny and St. Mary recorded declines in murders.
The number of shootings island-wide fell marginally. There were 1,046 incidents, three fewer than last year.

The police statistics also show a decline in reported cases of rape, robbery and break-ins in Jamaica since January.
The police received 330 reports of rape, a 27.6 per cent decline from 456 in 2020.
Break-ins were down 14.3 per cent, moving from 886 last year to 742 this year.
There was also a double digit decline in robberies.
There were 859 cases during the review period in 2020 but since January this year there have been 614 robberies, a 28.5 per cent reduction.
