All teachers paid, ministry confirms

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that all teachers have been paid.

Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) President La Sonja Harrison had earlier said several categories of teachers across the island were still without their October salary.

She complained that the teachers would need to "find additional sums to offset arrears in which their loans will now fall". Additionally, she said "no professional courtesy" was extended the teachers, as neither the JTA nor school boards had received any communication from the ministry regarding the delays.

But speaking with Radio Jamaica News on Friday, a representative from the Education Ministry said the situation has been resolved.

Efforts to get a comment from the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Maureen Dwyer, have so far been unsuccessful.
