Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne is expressing satisfaction with the record performance of the country's tourism industry.
Prime Minister Browne says the country welcomed 1.1 million visitors, shattering the previous record set in 2019 ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says Antigua and Barbuda has emerged as one of the most sought after luxury destinations for the world's wealthy individuals, adding that the work that has gone into improving the offerings and attracting more visitors to the country will benefit the economy.
On December 21, an unprecedented 51 flights landed at V.C. Bird International Airport, including 13 international flights, 35 regional flights and three private charters, the prime minister revealed.
Barring natural disasters, another pandemic or military conflict, he said, the country is poised for even greater achievements.
