The death toll in Wednesday's New Orleans crash has risen to 15.
Another 30 people were injured when a driver behind the wheel of a pickup truck raced into a crowd of New Orleans revellers on Bourbon Street early on New Year's Day.
The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism.
The suspect in the vehicle attack has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US citizen from Texas.
New Orleans police said after the vehicle stopped, the driver emerged from the truck and opened fire on responding officers.
US President Joe Biden said the New Orleans attacker had posted video on social media indicating he was inspired by the Islamic State group.
Mr. Biden said the man had expressed a desire to kill.
He said the investigation remained fluid.
