Attorneys representing former civil servant George Knight, 44, and his co-accused, Clava Mantock Jnr., 32, failed in their attempts to secure bail for their clients in court on Tuesday.
Three other accused- Police Inspector 48-year-old Andrew Bobb; 62 year-old electrical engineer Clava Mantock Snr; and 40 year-old manager Melville Edwards - were granted bail amounting to J$2 million.
In the case of Knight and Mantock Jnr, the prosecution revealed that investigators are expected to question both men in connection with the seizure of 33 rounds of ammunition at. Mantock's residence.
Attorney Peter Champagnie, who is representing Knight, said his client told investigators the ammunition belongs to him.
All five were arrested and charged in connection with forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to deceive. This stemmed from an investigation by the Office of the Contractor General regarding an application form submitted by three directors of Cenitech Engineering Solutions to the National Contracts Commission for the company to be registered as a public sector contractor.
Cenitech later won the bid for a J$732 million contract to construct houses in the eastern parish of St. Thomas. However, during the verification Ministry of Agriculture officials allegedly discovered fraudulent information and the matter was turned over to the police.
The accused are booked to return to court on August 4.
