International consultancy firm, PwC, says its Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey 2026 has revealed that while there is an optimistic minority group of artificial intelligence frontrunners who are motivated and ready to advance, there is an anxious majority.
The PwC survey also indicated that this majority are worrying about their jobs and finances and, as a result, they feel shut out of growth and learning and distrust their leaders.
PwC said this workforce divergence poses a complicated challenge for employers.
For example, the frontrunner workers are proving to be more agile than their organisations, many of which continue to reward caution over innovation.
Almost one third of these workers say they are likely to change jobs during the next 12 months.
Meanwhile, the core workforce feels unsettled by the change, left behind by the artificial intelligence race, unsupported in upskilling and poorly led by their managers.
PwC also pointed out that they are experiencing a crisis of trust.
