A woman was shot and killed in St. Thomas on Thursday night.
She is 30-year old Tiyana Ewart, otherwise called Tookie, a bar owner of Navarre Lane, Seaforth.
Her death has pushed the total number of murders in St. Thomas to 40.
This is an increase over the 39 homicides recorded in the parish last year.
According to police reports, about 6:45 p.m., Ms Ewart was approached by a man armed with a gun. A tussle ensued and the woman was shot.
The police were called and the body of the woman was seen with a bullet wound to the head.
She was assisted to Princess Margaret Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
