Residents of Rangle Lane in Burnt Savannah

Residents of Rangle Lane in Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth are appealing to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) to trim trees close to power lines in the community, as falling branches have been causing frequent outages.
The community lost electricity on Tuesday afternoon after a tree branch fell on a power line during heavy winds.
About 7 p.m., a house was damaged by fire after a lit candle overturned.
The residents say the outages can be avoided if the JPS responds to their complaints.
"JPS need fi come round here and...cut di tree dem weh a grow beside a di lightpost because a tree limb tear off down deh suh and drop pon di wire. So you check di lane now we don't have any light. Suh it cause you fi light candle inna you house and di breeze well a blow you know. Suh is a likkle yute light the candle," one resident lamented.
Another resident insisted the issues in the community are also being caused by faulty JPS brackets, which he urged the company to address.
The incident occurred in the same community where 14-year-old Ackalia Nugent was badly burnt last Friday after the stove she was using to prepare breakfast exploded.
