Two of four gunmen who reportedly engaged the police in a shootout in St. Thomas Tuesday afternoon were killed and two rifles seized.
The gunmen had earlier fatally shot a businessman during a robbery. He has been identified as Dexter Rhoden.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that, about 12:30, the four gunmen went to Mr. Rhoden's business place in Prospect and demanded money.
Mr. Rhoden was shot by the robbers and pronounced dead at hospital.
It's understood that the St. Thomas police intercepted the get-away vehicle on the Lyssons main road.
During the shootout, two of the men were killed and one detained.
The fourth gunman escaped.
The police say they seized two high powered rifles from the suspects.
