The authorities in the Cayman Islands are investigating 114 suspected sham marriages.

Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman said its Compliance and Enforcement Unit said the cases returned "adverse findings," which prompted further investigation.

The agency has probed 175 marriages since the start of the year to ensure the legitimacy of those unions.
