COVID-19 related hospitalisations continue to decline

COVID-19 related hospitalisations in Jamaica declined further on Friday, falling to 638 patients, down from 663 on Thursday.
 
Ninety of the patients are severely ill, while 31 are in critical condition.
 
Another three deaths and 521 infections were also confirmed on Friday.
 
With those changes, the death toll now stands at 1,824 and number of infections since the start of the pandemic in Jamaica has increased to 82, 349.
 
The new cases were confirmed from 1,607 samples, a positivity rate  of31.8 percent.
 
A two day old baby is among the new cases.
 
The three additional deaths occurred during the period September 3 to 22.
 
Two of the deceased were from St Elizabeth, while the other was from St Catherine.
